Mayor Alma Scott Moore
Mayor Alma Scott Moore is the daughter of Laura Bobb Scott and the late Msgt. Earl Scott. Mayor Moore is the oldest of five (5) siblings and after traveling with her parents abroad to Okinawa, Japan was raised in the Town of Boyce. Mayor Moore has been married for over 21 years to Robert Moore. Mayor Moore is also the mother of five (5) Shondell, Patrick, Patricia, Mark, and Jasmyn. Mayor Moore is the proud grandmother of 21 grandkids and 1 great-grandchild. Mayor graduated from A. Wettermark High School in 1975 and attended Grambling State University and Draughon's School of Business. Mayor Moore accepted the call into the ministry and has been ordained as an Evangelist of the gospel since April 25, 2003, and currently serves on the Ministerial Team at Zion Hill Baptist Church.
Mayor Moore formerly served as Alderwoman for the Town of Boyce from 2006-2014 before becoming the first female/African female elected in 2015 to serve as Mayor of the Town of Boyce. Mayor Moore is currently serving my 2nd term as Mayor.
Mayor Moore currently serves on the Board for the Rapides Senior Citizens Center, Treasurer of the Louisiana Black Caucus Committee, Board member of Re-Entry Solutions, Rapides Parish Housing Authority Commissioner and has been a champion for Senior Services in her community in which the town-sponsored their first Senior program on August 17, 2017. The things Mayor Moore was taught growing up lead up to her development as an individual, cognitively, spiritually, and how she views herself in the world today. Proverbs 3: 5-6 tells us to trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not to thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him and he shall direct thy paths. God needed a vessel and Mayor Moore was willing, he is the potter and Mayor Moore is just the clay. Nothing that God does is by accident or coincidence, it is appointed.
Mayor Moore's mission is to be committed and determined to continue to develop and create a positive relationship with the people that she serves and loves along this journey because she knows that God is not finished with her. She is a firm believer that God is the author and finisher of her faith. She will continue to hear the voice of the lord taking one day and one step at a time with the assurance that with God all things are possible to them that that believe. Mayor Moore's favorite words are if She can help someone along the way then her living would not be in vain.
